This is a poem I wrote at the end of 2011 for another writing contest. As I said in the last post, as soon as I am ready I will start posting chapters from my novel in progress. Thanks for reading.
Winter’s
Whispers
By
Melissa Francisco
Soft
snow covers the grassless ground
Its
gentle cushion muffles sound
Only
whispers can be heard
From
little rabbits, mice, and birds
The
wind whispers through sleeping trees
Branches
grasp to falling leaves
Smoke
rises from a chimney high
Yet,
still in whispers it melts the sky
A
fire crackles, creeks, and pops
As
its gentle chatter never stops
Whispers
go from ear to ear
As
Christmas secrets are there to hear
Greatest
of all are the whispers heard above
As
prayers of thanks are sent with love
