This is a teaser for the novel I am working on. My goal is to start posting chapters at the beginning of March. "The Lightless" Teaser                 Abby Park slipped the intricate ring from her finger and let it fall to the ground. She was three larges steps from the portal to earths dimension and her heart was pounding in her chest. Despite the king's orders and her ex's pleading she had made the decision to leave.   She had to find the other member of the ancient oath made long ago by their ancestors. And yet she hesitated. Breaking the law was harder than she thought it would be. She shifted her thoughts to her motivation and her brow furrowed. No one will care about breaking the law if everyone is dead. I have to save them. She smiled in spite of her nerves. "Off to save the world." She said with a hint of sarcasm. It sounded so cliché. Then she signed deeply and began to walk.  ...
Personal post. This happened yesterday and it made me so happy I decided to blog about it. Remember that in the coming weeks I will also be posting chapters from my novel. My goal is to start at the first of March. I'll keep you posted. ;) "Elizabeth can count to Flee!"                 Disclaimer; this is an 'online journal post' so if you have a problem with those, you have been warned.                 This morning I was giving Elizabeth her "baff" and while she was playing with her various foam letters and numbers she picked up a one.                 "A" she said with a big partly white smile.                 "That's a one sweetie" said smiling back.    ...
This is a poem I wrote at the end of 2011 for another writing contest. As I said in the last post, as soon as I am ready I will start posting chapters from my novel in progress. Thanks for reading.    Winter’s Whispers By Melissa Francisco Soft snow covers the grassless ground Its gentle cushion muffles sound Only whispers can be heard From little rabbits, mice, and birds The wind whispers through sleeping trees Branches grasp to falling leaves Smoke rises from a chimney high Yet, still in whispers it melts the sky A fire crackles, creeks, and pops As its gentle chatter never stops Whispers go from ear to ear As Christmas secrets are there to hear Greatest of all are the whispers heard above As prayers of thanks are sent with love
